BMW causes RNLI call out
Reported in the Daily Telegraph (http://tgr.ph/jlgqLq ), a full scale rescue operation was called for by the Welsh Coastguard after an emergency signal was picked up four miles off the coast. A three hour operation ensued which centered around the suspected sinking of a small fishing vessel.
The signal was initially detected and then disappeared as as such the worst was feared .At the conclusion of the search it was noted that the signal was coming from precisely the same location as the Dublin Liverpool ferry crosses. It transpired that an Emergency telematics signal was transmitted from a car. BMW and Volvo now have this anti theft device as standard.
The incident was ultimately logged as a false alarm but with good intention.
